The Wintering Grounds
Team Project   Visual Identity + Layout + Typography
My team created a poster for a whitewater documentary, The Wintering Grounds. The documentary follows a group of freestyle whitewater rafters as they spend the winter in southern most whitewater in the US. Their love of the sport as well as the community that they have built in Columbus, Ga is highlighted though-out the film.

The project started as a competition in my graphic design class while in college. The class was divided into teams to compete for the opportunity to work with the makers of the film as well as a cash prize.

Research
The Whitewater park that the documentary takes place in already has a strong established brand identity that the poster can draw from. RushSouth draws on the association that people have between florescent colors and outdoor sports, we wish to use the same connection as well as connect in people's minds the documentary and RushSouth.

Working with the client
I worked with the client as I developed the poster to include more visual elements that are representative of what is in the documentary.  The design on the left marks the end point of the in-class competition as well as the departure of my team member.

Now working solo, I worked with the client to further develop the poster. The primary feedback that I received is to include more aspects of the documentary, specifically the mobile lifestyle as well as the setting of Columbus. After experimenting with the inclusion of a truck from the film, the client and I resolved the poster with the rightmost design.

Usage of the Logo
The client liked the type elements of the poster that it became both the logo of entire project and a sticker! The Wintering Grounds continues to use the logo after my involvement in the project was complete.
